Who is Jennifer Murphy?

Jennifer is a woman called by God to empower those looking to live the abundant life. She is known as the Spiritual Purpose Pusher and wants to help you gain focus and walk in your God ordained purpose. She is a community leader and an advocate for health and wholeness. Turn Away and Pray is one of her platforms used to help people build spiritual muscle. As a prophetic intercessor, she prays with conviction and close attention to the leading of God and his spirit. When she speaks, she carries power, and she is very intentional about meeting the needs of the space she occupies.

Jennifer, born and raised in South Bend IN to Archie and Joyce Shurn. She has 9 siblings (6 sisters and 3 brothers) whom she loves and enjoys. Jennifer began her relationship with God at 12 years of age; although not perfect, she strived to make her life one of purpose.

After high school she attended Kentucky State University, a Historically Black College and University in Frankfort KY where she was named and featured in Ebony Magazine as Miss Kentucky State University in 1998, the 69th University Queen.

After completing her bachelor’s degree in Biology at Kentucky State University, she moved back to Indiana where she obtained her Master of Public Health from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. She has spent most of her professional years serving pregnant and parenting women in various roles through the Marion County Public Health Department.

In 2007, she married Dedrick O. Murphy Sr. and began an exciting journey. In 2009, she and her husband co-founded a not-for-profit called Murphy Mentoring Group, Inc. The community-based social service organization provides life and social skill development to children, youth, and families in Marion and surrounding counties and in the northern part of Indiana. She is also the co-founder alongside her husband of Impacting Lives LLC which empowers people to maximize their skills, talents, and gifts to tap into their greater.

Jennifer and her husband have 3 beautiful daughters (Haley, Hannah, Harper) and a handsome son (Dedrick Jr.).

She serves her community and her local church very well. She works hard and plays even harder. She enjoys her family, liturgical dance, writing, reading, teaching, mentoring, speaking, shopping, vacationing, and spending time in God’s presence and of course eating “good food”.

Her life’s mission is to empower those who meet her to fulfill their purpose and excel beyond any barriers that may stand in the way.
